Farm Stories

Today, you can travel to every part of Ireland and encounter an interesting, distinctive, local farmhouse cheese.  The cheese revolution has been steady, democratic and passionate, and it has succeeded for a very simple reason: the people who make the cheeses do so on their own farms, so the cheese speaks of their land, their milk, their labour, their passion.

Farmhouse cheeses are made in a huge variety of styles, from the freshest cheese to the rustic and mature hard cheese that has been carefully minded for years as it edges towards perfect maturity. Making your way through the variety of farmhouse cheeses is one of the great culinary journeys.

We want to share with you some of the amazing stories and people behind farmhouse cheese – why and how they do what they do.  Some of these farms will open their doors and gates to the Irish public from April to October.  Come visit one of the farms and experience first-hand, the story of farmhouse cheese – our milk and dairy herds, our small batches and commitment to taste and quality, our maturing and dedication to making some of the finest artisan products.  Farm visits are free to attend but you must book your place online.
